Traveling:

Airlines

Travelers can board flights knowing airlines are making strides towards lowering the environmental impact of each trip. All major airlines have committed to net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. U.S. airlines set a goal to make 3 billion gallons of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) available by 2030 and are investing in research to develop new alternative fuels like hydrogen.

American Airlines

The first airline with emissions reduction targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative, which includes a commitment to reduce our carbon intensity by 45% by 2035. American is investing $100 million in Breakthrough Energy Catalyst to accelerate the development of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and other green energy technologies.

United Airlines

United was the first airline to commit to reducing its GHG emissions 100% by 2050, without relying on traditional carbon offsets. To support this commitment United has invested in the future production of more SAF than any airline globally. United has also launched two corporate investment funds, United Airlines Ventures, and its SAF-focused Sustainable Flight Fund. Through these venture funds, United became the first U.S. airline to make investments in technologies including hydrogen-electric engines, electric regional aircraft and air taxis.
