  • Reduced emissions by over 400,000 metric tons of CO2e over the last decade, equivalent to the energy consumed to power more than 50,000 homes for one year. Through several key initiatives like energy efficiency upgrades, obtaining almost half its electricity from carbon-free sources, and more fuel-efficient locomotives, Amtrak has reduced fuel and energy use year-over-year.
  • Set a goal to achieve net-zero emissions by 2045, with an interim target to reduce emissions 40% by 2030. Amtrak is poised to play a leading role in the modal shift to rail in support of global efforts to reduce GHG emissions.
